From a garage to a shared adventure
Get Arctic's story began in the garage of an enthusiastic outdoor adventurer who moved to Rovaniemi in 2017. Freeriding, campervan trips with his family, hiking and water sports inspired Juho to explore the northern wilderness all year round.
His collection of outdoor equipment began to grow. At the same time, he became increasingly concerned about the amount of gear he owned and how sustainably it was being used.
“In the end, equipment is only used for a few weeks each year. The rest of the time, it sits in storage. I wanted to find a way to let other enthusiastic outdoor adventurers test equipment and try new activities with quality gear. That way, you wouldn't necessarily need to buy everything yourself, or you could at least try the equipment properly before deciding to buy it,” Juho explains.
Get Arctic takes shape and grows
Get Arctic was founded in 2020 to offer full-service equipment rental to local residents and visitors to the north. Together with his team, Juho set up an online store and a collection facility in Rovaniemi, making it easy to rent everything needed to explore the fells of Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish Lapland.
A new chapter began in 2025 when Pete, a keen all-round outdoor enthusiast, joined as a second co-owner to help Juho develop the growing business.
The people behind Getarctic
Petri Niemelä – An all-round adventurer with a hands-on approach
Pete is a versatile outdoor enthusiast whose life revolves around Lapland's natural surroundings and a wide range of activities. At Getarctic, he is involved in almost everything. Equally at home with tools in hand or out on the trail, his work ranges from equipment maintenance and sales to guiding trips.
As our lead guide, Pete wants to offer customers authentic experiences in nature and share the knowledge he has gained over the years. He is currently studying to become a nature experience instructor, deepening his professional skills to develop safe, high-quality and memorable experiences in Lapland's stunning wilderness.
Pauliina – Getarctic's energetic all-rounder
Pauliina is our team's energetic powerhouse. Before Pete joined, she kept Getarctic's day-to-day operations running. Today, her main responsibilities are equipment maintenance and inventory management.
She makes sure the rental equipment is correctly adjusted, the gear is in good condition and all textiles are clean for the next adventurers. Pauliina's attention to detail and energetic approach keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Juho – The original mind behind Getarctic
Juho came up with the original idea for Getarctic and set everything in motion. These days, he has taken a small step back from daily operations, but he remains part of the team, contributing his experience and perspective to our shared work.

Lapland's great outdoors is a wonderful place to be! In summer, exploring the waterways by kayak, canoe or SUP board, or even catching waves on a surfboard, brings variety to your outdoor adventures.
Winter trips and fell adventures
