Terms

General Rental Terms

These rental terms apply to outdoor and recreational equipment rented by Getarctic Oy, as well as, where applicable, other products and services booked through our online store. The customer agrees to comply with these rental terms when making a booking.

1. Booking and Payment

– Rental products, their availability, and prices can be found in our online store.

– The customer is responsible for selecting the correct products, sizes, and rental period, and for the accuracy of the contact information provided.

– Customers must familiarize themselves with the product descriptions, user manuals, and rental terms before making a booking.

– Bookings are confirmed by email. The order becomes binding after the booking and payment have been confirmed.

– Payment is made in accordance with the terms of the chosen payment method in the online store.

– Prices include VAT. We use dynamic pricing, so prices may vary depending on the time of booking.

– If a booked product is unavailable, we will offer a replacement product if possible or refund the payment.

2. Changing and Cancelling a Booking

– Changes and cancellations to a booking must be notified in writing.

– When a booking is cancelled at least 5 days before the rental period begins, we will refund the full rental fee paid.

– When a booking is cancelled less than 5 days before the rental period begins, the cancellation fee is 50% of the total rental price.

– The cancellation date is considered the day Getarctic receives the cancellation notice.

3. Collection and Return of Equipment

– The customer collects and returns the rental equipment at the time and place agreed upon in the booking.

– Equipment must be returned cleaned and in the same condition as it was at the time of handover, taking into account normal wear and tear.

– If the return is delayed, the customer must notify Getarctic immediately.

– For late returns, a 50% increased rental fee may be charged for the overdue period, unless otherwise agreed.

– Rental equipment may not be sub-rented or taken outside of Finland without a separate agreement.

More detailed instructions regarding various collection, delivery, and return options can be found under Info → Pickup and Delivery.

4. Use and Safety of Equipment

– Rental equipment must be used carefully, appropriately, and only in conditions suitable for its intended purpose.

– Customers must familiarize themselves with the equipment's user and safety instructions and check its functional condition before use and, if necessary, during use.

– The customer is responsible for assessing their own skill level, physical condition, and the suitability of the conditions before participating in an activity.

– Equipment should only be used in conditions and activities suitable for the customer's skill level and the equipment itself.

– The customer is responsible for complying with applicable safety regulations and other official guidelines.

– Any defects, deficiencies, or malfunctions detected in the equipment must be reported to Getarctic without delay.

5. Damages and Customer Liability

– The customer is responsible for any damage caused to the equipment during the rental period due to careless or incorrect use or insufficient care.

– For lost or destroyed rental equipment, the customer is obligated to compensate for its replacement cost in accordance with applicable law.

– Getarctic is responsible for maintenance and repair work resulting from normal wear and tear of the equipment.

– The customer is also responsible for damages caused by individuals to whom they entrust the rented equipment.

– Getarctic is not responsible for any inconvenience or costs incurred by the customer due to natural conditions, changes in weather, or other circumstances beyond the company's control.

6. Shipments and Deliveries

– Rental products can be delivered to a collection point chosen by the customer or to a separately agreed-upon delivery address.

– Rental products sent to the customer must be available for pickup by the agreed start time of the rental period.

– The customer agrees to return the shipped rental products to the agreed-upon return point no later than the end of the rental period.

– Delivery costs are determined by the chosen delivery method and include applicable transport and packaging costs.

– If delivery is delayed for reasons beyond Getarctic’s control, we will refund the rental period during which the product was not available to the customer. If the delay leads to the cancellation of the order, we will refund the order payment in full.

7. Getarctic's Right to Cancel a Booking

– Getarctic may cancel a booking due to force majeure or another significant reason beyond the company's control, for example, if the equipment to be rented is unusable after the previous customer's use.

– We will notify the customer of the cancellation as soon as possible.

– In such a situation, the customer will be refunded the full rental fee paid.

8. Complaints and Disputes

– Any deficiencies or problems must be reported to Getarctic as soon as they arise.

– Complaints and claims for compensation should be made in writing as soon as possible, primarily during the rental period or no later than the end of the rental period.

– We strive to process complaints without delay, within one month at the latest.

– The agreement is subject to Finnish law.

– Any disputes will primarily be resolved through negotiation. Consumers have the right to contact consumer advisory services and, if necessary, bring the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board.
